Windows Vista
EDIT: I see PTC has a download for 10.8.5.
EDIT: I’ve found a new download link at Macrovision. It looks like the latest version is 11.4.1. Installation is simple: Just replace the files in ..\flexlm\i486_nt\obj with the updates. I’m still running 10.8.5 — I have no idea what’s new in 11.4.1.

I just dumped a bunch of money on a new ThinkPad T60p and Samsung 245BW monitor. I’ve always had pretty high regard for ThinkPads and my first impression of the Samsung monitor is very good (only $510 after rebate, brightest monitor I’ve ever seen, perfect size for 1920 x 1200).
I decided to buy the ThinkPad with Vista Business, since the price was the same and I figured I could load XP Pro if I needed. Here are my first impressions:
- Get used to the popups. You can slow them down, but not stop them. I’ve decided to turn User Account Control off. That may not work for you, but if you type “uac” into the “Control Panel” search box, you can turn it off.

- WF2 definitely has issues:
- the top level menu appears as typed text in a string of boxes.
- Flexnet v27 licensing will work if you download the latest license tools (Macrovision: Windows Vista Information Center)
- Vista has problems with my old startup scripts, which I’ll be updating.
- Multiple display support seems crude.
- The “File Types” tab is missing from “Folder Options” in Vista, making it difficult to create RMB shortcuts without 3rd party tools.
Remember, this is not a production system and benchmark performance is not my primary concern. But, I will do my best to bend Vista to my will.
More to follow.
Hi, did you manage to get FlexNet working with Vista? I’m trying to get 10.8.5 (from the Wildfire 4.0 M020 CD) to run on my virtual image of Vista Ultimate 32-bit, but to no success.
Hi, this is a follow-up from my previous cry for help. Apparently, McAfee Internet Security was running on the Vista machine I was trying to install Pro/E on and the bloody thing had ports blocked, hence the lmgrd errors. Boy, was my face red.
A good discussion of Pro/E firewall requirements would be helpful, but I’m a little out of date, what with PDMLink and all.
