Almost any feature in Pro/E can be re-routed if you have the patience, including buggered up merges. Pro/E is first and foremost, a big database of geometry. When something goes wrong, Pro/E offers you a couple of options to repair the database. The most common method is to re-define the feature. The most powerful method is to re-route the feature. The most efficient way to re-route a feature is to replace the references ahead of time. (Yeah, like when do I ever get a chance to do that? Check out: The first thing to remember is: Re-routing is something you don't really get a second chance at. If you accept this, and make up your mind to follow a very methodical process, you can take advantage of the "Re-route all children" global database replace, which is the most efficient means of re-routing lost references.
